DIMEBAG DARRELL: DAMAGEPLAN Has A Beautiful Future

May 26, 2004

DAMAGEPLAN guitarist Dimebag Darrell has told Canada's Chart Attack that he and his brother Vinnie Paul have every intention of continuing to live up to the partying reputation they'd earned during their lengthy run with PANTERA.

"We go out and raise fuckin' hell — it's just in our blood," Darrell said. "We just stay burned out — we fucking tear it up as hard as we can every fuckin' night, then we wake up going, 'Goddamn.' We feel it every morning, but we roll out of bed, get ourselves rehydrated, put some food down then get back in the game and go again. We don't waste a fuckin' night."

According to Darrell, DAMAGEPLAN's goal with their debut album, "New Found Power", was to please old PANTERA fans and make the band some new ones.

"Towards the end with PANTERA — although I was never unhappy with the music we were making — it became one-dimensional and we wanted to open things back up," said Darrell. "We've still got all the angles of heavy music that PANTERA had, but now it’s got more melody and there's even some stuff that is even heavier than what we did with PANTERA — it's just way more diverse. We're thrilled with this band and we have a beautiful fucking future." [Read more]
